RN Shift Coordinator 7East Medical Care Unit (D/N rotation) - (24000324) The 7 East Medical Care Unit is an exciting, innovative, dynamic, fast-paced, 50-bed acute care unit known for teamwork and a multidisciplinary approach to delivering quality patient care. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. The Shift Coordinator directs the activities of and/or participates as a member of the patient care delivery team on a shift-to-shift basis, collaborating with unit leadership to plan, manage and evaluate unit-based clinical care and ensure continuity of care."

Responsibilities

Demonstrate professional practice with accountability for one’s own practice.

Participate in Shared Leadership and contribute to CNMC’s Magnet Journey.

Ensure nursing practice is based on evidence of best practice and participate in the Division of Nursing’s Performance Improvement process.

Engage in community activities as appropriate.

Participate in assessment, planning, and implementation of the nursing process; continuously assess patient/family needs and adjust as necessary.

Assess and modify skill mix and staffing levels in collaboration with management for complex issues; plan patient discharge and resolve clinical issues using a multidisciplinary approach.

Communicate effectively; provide constructive performance feedback; manage conflicts; advocate for patients and families.

Educate patients and families; facilitate learning opportunities for staff and ensure educational needs are met.

Promote safety; validate information; act decisively when uncertainties arise and maintain clear verbal and written communications; promote safety for patients, families, visitors and staff; practice Stop, Think, Act and Review to self-check behavior.

Demonstrate cost awareness by planning staffing patterns to meet patient care needs and ensure adherence to policies; participate in performance appraisals and implement positive organizational changes; demonstrate leadership and collaboration.

Contribute to quality improvement and problem-solving; identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes; exercise sound judgment in decision-making; use resources efficiently.

Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Minimum Work Experience 2 years Nursing experience (Required); 1 year Recent pediatric experience in a comparable setting (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge The Shift Coordinator will successfully complete the hospital and nursing orientation at CNMC.

Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse in District of Columbia
