About the Opportunity The Director of Information Technology Services leads the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department for the Potomac State College campus. The Director provides advanced knowledge and direction in project oversight in research, design and development of complex information technology projects critical to the mission of administrative and academic areas and provides general assistance to management professional technologists in support of IT project proposals, presentations and budgets.

What You'll Do

Lead others and/or provide expertise in project management for high‑level University network, system, application, and/or ongoing technical projects. Supervise the WVU PSC IT staff and IT student workers on the WVU PSC campus

Serve as the liaison between WVU PSC and WVU ITS. Serve as the PSC representative on information technology related projects as needed

Independently and/or as part of a team, plan, coordinate, conduct and implement a wide variety of complex systems analyses, including databases, applications, systems, and Zoom

Oversee telephone administration, CBord administration, Intune, Azure, and networking support activities as necessary to maintain information technology systems, processes, and projects

Maintain currency in advancements in information technology and enhance existing skills Follow policies, processes, procedures and associated documentation in compliance with development and cybersecurity standards, federal and university privacy, confidentiality, and cybersecurity guidelines relative to securing personal information (PII) (generated, stored and/or transmitted electronically) maintained in supported systems. IT Security - Cybersecurity, IT policies and standards

Prepare technical documentation, including interpretation of business rules, flow charts, logic diagrams, and code, according to industry documentation standards

Develop, implement and maintain University infrastructure systems and equipment

Develop and maintain detailed records and documentation, including maintenance, error, repair and records, development, implementation, and performance standards and rules, system cost estimates and analysis, equipment and software maintenance contracts, etc.

Maintain IT asset life‑cycle management. Participate in strategic planning

Individually and/or as part of a team, plan and develop the methodology for completing assignments, resolve all conflicts which arise, and coordinate with other professional technologists as needed

Serve as the Data Center Coordinator

Provide technical training as necessary for the employees and students on the Potomac State College campus

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the following: Delivering and supporting applications with stringent security requirements

Design, installation and implementation of infrastructure systems and equipment

Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered

All qualifications must be met by the time of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels and with technical staff, managers, and end‑users

Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written

Demonstrated ability to prepare technical documentation and justify approach used, resolve complex issues, explain and/or train staff on technical features of an application or process, and the ability to express technical information to non‑technical users as well as gather information from them relating to system development to meet their business needs

Demonstrated ability to work and communicate in challenging situations

Strong analytical skills to be able to research, analyze, detect, and technically correct errors within in‑house developed processes

Demonstrated ability to reason logically, analyze and solve problems

Ability to define procedural problems, collect and evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and project consequences of various alternative recommendations

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed

Demonstrated ability to take direction from peers for the purpose of a project

Initiative and motivation to request, accept, and complete tasks as required

Demonstrated experience in delivering quality, user accepted, completed task(s) on time

Demonstrated ability to work as a lead or a member of a team of diverse skill levels and expertise from multiple areas; functioning in an optimum role for team success

Broad knowledge of computer security issues, requirements, and trends, including an awareness of information security laws (such as HIPAA, FERPA) and accepted industry practice

Proven experience with development/troubleshooting/maintenance tools

Proven experience with specific software and hardware environments

In‑depth knowledge of general office software including word‑processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (prefer Microsoft Office including Word and Excel)

Requirements Valid driver's license
