R-100365**Job Description:**We are currently seeking an engineer to work as a Senior PLC/Controls Engineer in the R&D Hardware group.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
You will be working with a team of R&D engineers in both the USA and The Netherlands (Mechanical, Electrical, Testing/QA, and Controls) working on all aspects of the product life cycle including research, design, development, production and post-production support.**Education, Experience and Skills Desired**
Motion physics and advanced motion control programming
Industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT, PowerLink etc..)
Familiar with various closed-loop feedback control strategies
Programmable safety expertise
Experience with Git/SVN including commit, branching, merging, debug and related functions for code development and management
Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS) or similar.
Application development experience in a high-level (OOP) language (Python, C, C++, C#)
IEC 61131-2/PLCopen programming languages (structured text is a must, FBD is a plus)
Experience in Codesys, TwinCAT, and B&R Automation Studio (Siemens a plus)
Experience with object-oriented PLC programming
Robotic system development is a plus
Familiar with agile approaches to product development (both participant and leader)
Ability to read electrical schematics
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
Curious with a continuous improvement mindset
Experience with an Engineering Change Process (ECO/ECN)**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
Design, program and architect the control system for new machine designs
Document control application designs
Program automation applications
Develop formal test plans and scripts, then execute testing
Review automation application needs and document requirements
Estimate implementation effort to develop automation applications
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
Track and report project status (using DevOps, Confluence etc.)
Travel to customer locations to resolve technical problems
Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions around product development and improvement
Support machines during development, production and operation (remote and on-site support)
Assist in creating project plans
Provide input on resource allocation
Assess skill sets and resource strengths/weaknesses for staffing projects
Mentor other engineers**Physical Demands and Working Conditions:**
Up to 10%-15% travel as needed
