The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is looking for a

Foundation Fundraising & Stewardship Manager

to join our team. SAME represents the public sector architecture/engineering/construction industry – our 20,000+ members literally build and support America’s infrastructure and national security. We provide our members opportunities to:

POSITION SUMMARY The Foundation Fundraising & Stewardship Manager develops and executes integrated fundraising and communications strategies to advance the SAME Foundation’s mission of fostering engineering leadership for the nation. This role blends fundraising, storytelling, and relationship management—connecting donors and partners to measurable impact. The Manager leads donor engagement, campaigns, and events, while also overseeing foundation communications in collaboration with SAME’s national marketing team.

The Foundation Fundraising & Stewardship Manager works closely with the Foundation Board, National Office Leadership, and volunteer committees and reports to Strategic & Stakeholder Relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Fundraising Strategy & Execution

Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans encompassing corporate giving, individual campaigns, sponsorships, planned giving, and fundraising events.

Lead execution of Foundation fundraising at SAME national events (e.g., Soaring Eagle Gala, JETC, SBC).

Collaborate with SAME Marketing & Communications on campaign messaging, collateral, and digital presence.

Identify and pursue new revenue streams, including grants and employer-matching programs.

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, sustaining members, and corporate partners.

Manage donor recognition programs, acknowledgments, and impact reporting.

Oversee donor database integrity and analytics (KindSight, Nimble, GiveSmart).

Communications & Brand Alignment

Work with Marketing & Communications to develop case statements, donor spotlights, newsletters, and social media content that highlight the Foundation’s impact.

Ensure all Foundation communications align with SAME’s brand, tone, and messaging.

Partner with the Marketing & Communications team on media, web, and publication integration.

Reporting & Compliance

Track campaign metrics, donor growth, and ROI for reporting to the Foundation Board and SAME leadership.

Ensure compliance with nonprofit fundraising regulations and internal policies.

Other Responsibilities

Provide hands‑on support at SAME National events as needed.

Other duties as assigned in support of SAME’s priorities and operation.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years of fundraising, donor engagement, or development communications experience.

Exceptional writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.

Experience with fundraising CRM tools and campaign analytics.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire trust, motivation, and confidence in internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Possess a positive attitude with ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work in a team environment, be a self-starter, and demonstrate initiative.

Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and know how to prioritize, adjust as needed, and meet deadlines.

Ability to problem solve and think creatively and broadly to enable and implement a project or event.

Desire to learn and be adaptable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.)

Commitment to professional growth and organizational excellence.

Ability to travel throughout the year.
