Our partner, a global leader in building materials and innovative construction solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join their corporate tax team. About the Role The Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing multi-state sales and use tax compliance, audit defense, and transactional tax research. This individual will interface with auditors, internal departments, and external teams to ensure accurate tax treatment and compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute multi-state sales & use tax audit defense, including preparing responses to taxing authorities.
Prepare, review, and submit accurate sales & use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
Conduct research to determine proper taxability of transactions and stay current on regulatory changes.
Perform monthly account reconciliations related to sales & use tax general ledger activity.
Support improvements to internal controls, tax processes, and automation systems.
Partner with accounting, procurement, operations, and compliance teams to ensure accurate tax application.
Assist with system upgrades, data reviews, and special tax-related projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Accounting required.
5+ years of experience specifically in multi-state sales & use tax audit defense required.
Master’s degree and/or CPA is a plus.
Strong computer proficiency, including:
Windows environment
Word processing
Advanced Excel
Experience with Vertex tax software preferred.
Experience with SAP is a plus.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
