Primary Location
North/Northwest Side, 6530 West Bryn Mawr Ave (William Howard Taft High School)
Salary Range: $61,513.30 to $92,687.09
The Youth Intervention Specialist helps create an environment that promotes student learning and development through programming and support for student behavior.
Primary Responsibilities
Implement and monitor Positive Behavior Intervention Support Program
Create Advisory Curriculum in conjunction with administration around Social and Emotional Learning
Deliver staff development around the PBIS/SEL programs
Implement and monitor the peer mediation council
De-escalate student incidents and behavior
Maintain communication with parents, teachers, and administration
Refer students to administration or student support as needed
Ensure that attendance is entered daily into Impact.
Ensure that all reporting timelines and deadlines are met.
Monitor student attendance and track absences
Daily phone calls to parents and students when absent
Home visits to chronically absent students
Design and implement attendance incentives
Serve on the attendance task force
Assist with the development of Individual Student Plans
Secondary Responsibilities: Discipline
Monitor student behavior and provide consequences in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct in conjunction with the Assistant Principal
Manage student entrance every morning
Conduct hall sweeps and classroom walk-throughs to promote positive behavior
Monitor the cafeteria during lunch and events
Run the In-School Suspension Room as needed
Conduct afterschool and Saturday detention as needed
Requirements
College Degree in Public Administration, Education, or Human Services Field
Previous experience in a school setting or working with adolescents
Ability to work after school and weekend hours
Experience with Guided Discipline and PBIS
Ability to interface with teachers and find creative solutions to challenging problems
