Position: Mechanical Design / PCB Layout Engineer – Datacenter Platform About the job you’re considering

We’re looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Design and PCB Layout Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture of a cutting-edge datacenter platform. This role encompasses full-cycle mechanical design—from concept through production—integrating electrical, thermal, and structural systems. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a scalable, high-density solution that meets the demands of modern datacenter environments.

Your Role Chassis & Enclosure Design

Develop robust, modular chassis and subcomponents optimized for manufacturability and structural integrity.

Ensure compatibility with standard rack formats (e.g., 19" EIA-310) and serviceability requirements.

Thermal & Airflow Engineering

Design and simulate airflow systems to ensure optimal thermal performance, including fans, ducts, and baffles.

Integrate advanced cooling solutions such as heat sinks, heat pipes, or liquid cooling.

Conduct CFD simulations and support thermal validation testing.

Power & Cable Management

Strategically plan cable routing and power subsystem integration for efficiency and reliability.

Design mechanical supports for power supplies, connectors, and cabling infrastructure.

System Integration

Collaborate with electrical engineering, systems, and PCB teams to define mechanical constraints and component placement.

Establish mounting and interface standards for PCBs, SSDs, fans, PSUs, and other hardware.

Prototyping & Testing

Facilitate rapid prototyping using CNC machining and 3D printing technologies.

Coordinate mechanical testing including vibration, shock, drop, and thermal assessments.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure designs meet regulatory standards (UL, CE, RoHS) and prioritize safety and serviceability.

Incorporate EMI/EMC shielding and user protection features.

Documentation

Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.

Provide clear, revision-controlled documentation for manufacturing and assembly processes.

Your skills and experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience designing datacenter or server chassis (preferably 2U–6U).

Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Ansys, Creo, NX, or similar.

Strong background in thermal and structural analysis (CFD, FEA).

Familiarity with rack standards, airflow optimization, and server packaging.

Knowledge of DFM/DFX principles, rapid prototyping, and sheet metal fabrication.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
