We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.
About The Role: We’re hiring a
Founding Data Analytics Engineer
to scale the data foundation that powers every decision and insight at Develop Health. You’ll build on our existing
dbt + Snowflake
stack and lead the creation of our
AI-first analytics layer , including the setup of
Hex
to empower self‑service insights across teams. You’ll also own our
user‑facing analytics product , designing metrics and visualizations that help clients understand their performance and take action.
Reporting directly to the CTO and working on‑site in our
Menlo Park
office at least three days a week, you’ll bridge engineering, data, and product to build trusted, scalable analytics that accelerate our impact.
What You’ll Do – Impact In Your First 3–6 Months:
Build, refine, and productionize
dbt models
that transform operational data into reliable business datasets.
Ensure systematic tracking of
core company metrics , such as: patient access time reduction and prior authorization automation rate
Stand up
Hex
(or a similar AI‑first BI platform) to enable a scalable, self‑service analytics culture across teams.
Collaborate with Product, Ops, and Engineering to deliver high‑impact dashboards and metric definitions used daily by leadership.
Partner with design and engineering to evolve the
user‑facing analytics experience , ensuring our clients get actionable insights directly within our product.
What You’ll Own – Driving Growth Beyond 12 Months:
Scale our data architecture to support
100x transaction volume
while maintaining high data reliability and performance.
Design and maintain a
metrics layer and semantic model
that ensures consistency across internal and external analytics.
Expand our
AI‑first BI capabilities , enabling intelligent query generation, anomaly detection, and automated insights.
Establish a world‑class analytics foundation that supports predictive modeling and AI‑driven operations.
Mentor future analytics hires and build the data function into a force multiplier for every team at Develop Health.
What You’ll Bring On Day 1:
3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or analytics engineering roles.
Deep expertise in
SQL
and
dbt ; you write clean, documented, testable transformations.
Hands‑on experience with
Snowflake
and modern BI tools (e.g., Hex, Looker, Mode, or Tableau).
Proven ability to define and operationalize business metrics across technical and non‑technical teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business goals into data solutions.
Passion for building elegant, trustworthy analytics that drive both internal decisions and customer experiences.
Comfort in a fast‑paced startup environment with high autonomy.
Availability to work on‑site in
Menlo Park
at least three days per week.
What You’ll Need To Learn Quickly:
How our AI systems integrate with
benefit verification and prior authorization
workflows, and develop a deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem—how data moves through payers, providers, and patients, and how our automation fits into these processes.
Our internal data sources, operational rhythms, and model evaluation standards.
Emerging AI techniques relevant to retrieval‑augmented generation, fine‑tuning, and evaluation automation.
Bonus Points:
Experience with
data ingestion tools
(Airbyte, Fivetran, etc.).
Background in
healthtech or automation‑heavy
industries.
Familiarity with
Python
for orchestration or light analytics tasks.
Interest in
AI‑assisted analytics and semantic layers .
Early‑stage startup experience.
