SteerBridge Strategies is seeking experienced Data Architects to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Modern Disability Claims. This initiative aims to improve the delivery of claims and benefits by developing scalable, efficient, and secure data infrastructure tailored to VA’s unique needs and standards.

As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise data models, metadata strategies, and long-term storage solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders to align architecture with VA standards, support system interoperability, and enable robust analytics and compliance reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience.

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.

Responsibilities

Design enterprise-level data architecture that supports VA claims processing systems

Develop comprehensive data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical designs

Establish metadata management strategies aligned with VA data governance policies

Architect secure and scalable storage solutions using tools such as AWS Redshift and Google BigQuery

Ensure alignment with VA data standards, compliance requirements, and federal regulations

Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business leaders to define and enforce best practices

Optimize database structures and integration frameworks for performance and usability

Provide guidance on data lifecycle management, archival policies, and cost-efficient infrastructure

Document architecture frameworks, policies, and system integration maps

Support data quality and governance initiatives to ensure consistency and reliability across platforms

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, enterprise data modeling, and data management

Proven experience with AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, and cloud-based data warehousing solutions

Expertise in developing and managing metadata strategy and data dictionaries

Familiarity with VA data standards, FHIR, and federal compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA)

Strong understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies and architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting data systems within federal healthcare or claims environments

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Experience with tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or similar data modeling platforms

Knowledge of VA-specific systems or legacy migration efforts.

Employees in this role are responsible for safeguarding sensitive information and must adhere to all organizational security and privacy policies, ensuring the protection, proper handling, and confidentiality of data at all times.

$120,000 - $135,000 a year

A salary commensurate with background and experience will be offered.
