As an Embedded Software Engineer on the Perception and Safety R&D Team , you will develop robotic technologies that enable our robots to operate safely around people and in various environments using sensors on dedicated computing platforms. You will have the opportunity to deploy embodied AI/ML systems safely around humans, write high-integrity software, implement critical functions, and create safety-critical software stacks to facilitate human-robot collaboration.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Design, develop, and validate embedded software to ensure safe operation of our robots around humans
  • Integrate hardware and software components into a unified, performant, and fault-tolerant system
  • Lead interdisciplinary technical projects related to robotic perception and computing subsystems
  • Test and evaluate new systems on our robots to ensure safety and effectiveness
  • Contribute to building infrastructure and operational processes within our small R&D team to unlock new robot capabilities
  • Advance cutting-edge technology to improve robotics safety in real-world applications

We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience with C/C++ and embedded systems
  • Experience in safety-critical software development, such as autonomous vehicles, driver assist systems, robotics, or medical devices
  • Proficiency in developing software for time-sensitive control systems, including real-time OS and networks
  • Experience handling sensor data from cameras, lidars, radars, or IMUs
  • Knowledge of standardized functional safety processes (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 26262) is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to document technical details and present on technical topics
  • Proven history of leading cross-functional technical efforts and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Experience working in small, fast-paced, interdisciplinary teams
