Job Description - Clinical Engineering Manager (2500030H) Job Description

Clinical Engineering Manager - (2500030H) The Clinical Engineering Manager provides day-to-day communication support to the Director of Biomedical Engineering and is responsible for managing the clinical engineering activities within the department. The position has responsibility for equipment planning for projects, project coordination, equipment evaluation, medical equipment management program development and maintenance system management, and the safety management associated with regulatory investigations, incident follow up, cybersecurity assurance, and recall investigations. The work will center on the value that the Biomedical Engineering department brings to the advancement and safety of medical device technology. Additionally, this position will work directly with the biomedical equipment technician team to coordinate projects as well as communicate with enterprise leadership on the status of all projects. This position will lead a small team of clinical engineers who will assist in supporting these goals and objectives.

Functional Accountabilities Communications, Strategic Planning & Project Management

Develop and execute communications strategy for managing projects.

Maintain the hospital capital lifecycle plan and recommendations.

Maintain a file system documenting all project initiatives and ongoing utilization.

Technology Management

Collaborate with all departments to understand the needs of their medical equipment.

Maintain a working knowledge of medical equipment and device technology to assure hospital on the cutting edge of technology.

Participate as a member on project teams related to new construction and space planning to assure technology needs are addressed.

System Management

Maintain a process to assure that technology associated with systems of integrated technology have a support system in place that addresses alerts when technology is not functioning; processes with technical team to address issues for quick resolution; planning for technology growth to assure that risks are reduced associated with loss of technology.

Manage the cybersecurity associated with medical devices to assure the risks associated with medical devices are reduced.

Work with the Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Director to develop good processes for responding to system issues and supporting day to day.

Safety Management

Oversee and manage the computerized maintenance management system to assure that medical devices are inventoried and receive necessary maintenance.

Follow up on incident investigations to assure a timely understanding of all issues involved with the goal of correcting future occurrences.

Manage the recall and alerts of medical devices to assure that issues are followed up on timely and reduce the risk of patient or staff safety.

Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Work Experience 5-7 years of experience. Previous experience as a clinical engineer necessary.

Job Posting Full-Time Salary Range 93,974.4 - 156,603.2
