Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) is seeking a Director, Membership and Business Development to lead a high-impact business development and membership department responsible for membership recruitment, retention, and onboarding; member experience, group member expansion, and the systems that support these functions. This is a critical role for an association where membership growth, retention and revenue diversification are a top strategic priority. This is a remote position with occasional travel to conferences and organizational activities. The Director, Membership and Business Development serves as the senior operational leader for the association’s business development and membership function, overseeing both member growth and member experience. This role manages the department while building modern, scalable systems that drive sustainable year-over-year growth in membership and non-dues revenue. The ideal candidate combines collaboration with strong initiative and leadership presence, works well across departments but also confidently moves work forward, solves problems proactively, and builds the structures needed for a high-performing membership team. The position requires a proactive, people-oriented individual with a strong background in developing relationships with sponsors and members. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning Develop and implement the annual membership strategy, including recruitment, retention, revenue, and engagement goals. Cultivate and grow the group membership category through relationship development, customized membership proposals, and track group member engagement. Evaluate membership programs, benefits, processes, and systems to strengthen member value and operational efficiency. Establish scalable systems, workflows, and SOPs to ensure consistency and sustainable growth. Membership Retention & Engagement Oversee the full membership lifecycle, including prospecting, onboarding, engagement, and renewal. Regularly analyze membership data and trends to inform decision-making and refine strategy. Clearly communicate PALTmed’s value proposition and customize messaging for diverse stakeholder groups. Identify new opportunities to enhance member value and drive participation in PALTmed services. Serve as staff liaison to designated committees and working groups. Business Development Develop professional relationships with existing and potential corporate supporters to build meaningful, long-term mutually rewarding relationships. Lead business development efforts by promoting and selling event sponsorships, exhibits, and other revenue-generating offerings. Work with the Director, Foundation for PALTC to maintain and grow the Industry Advisory Board (IAB). Participate in relationship building and engagement activities with current IAB members. Foster strong relationships with members, sponsors, and stakeholders. Team Leadership & Culture Development Manage, mentor, and develop staff to build a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable membership team. Foster a culture of initiative, transparency, and continuous improvement. Provide clear expectations, coaching, and accountability for staff and vendors. Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate brings an energetic, entrepreneurial mindset and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. They are results-driven and take a consultative approach to sales, focusing on building strong relationships and delivering value. This individual is comfortable managing multiple priorities and responsibilities. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in membership development, sales, or business development, preferably within a medical association or nonprofit setting. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding growth and revenue targets. Proficient in using membership databases. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging directly with members, sponsors, and stakeholders. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently in a remote environment. Ability to travel regularly for in-person events and meetings. To Apply
