Reporting to the Director of Community Connect and working collaboratively with the Assistant Director for Training Projects, and the Community Connect leadership team, the Interim Assistant Director of Community Connect is responsible for leading specialized programs within Bunker Hill Community College's SUCCESS Fund program. Using a community-connected, student-centered, asset-based, data-driven, and outcomes-focused approach and working collaboratively across campus departments, the Interim Assistant Director will oversee the development and implementation of programs, services, intrusive advising approaches, research projects, etc. focused on special populations within Community Connect. This position will also develop and implement programs designed to support student financial planning and navigation. The Interim Assistant Director will work collaboratively with the Director on grant and budget management, program design and implementation, data collection and reporting, professional development, and student services and is responsible for providing leadership in the following areas:
Responsibilities
Supervise members of the full-time Academic Coordinator team.
Work collaboratively across a variety of College divisions and departments?including but not limited to Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, High School Partnerships and Pathways, academic divisions and departments, Institutional Research and Assessment, Grants Management, the BHCC Foundation, Internships and Career Development and the Chief Compliance Officer?to connect students to relevant resources in order to maximize success for Community Connect Scholars.
Assist the Director in the management of the SUCCESS Fund State allocation; monitor program budgets.
Manage and implement student advising and College navigation; refer students to appropriate services as needed.
Develop and manage student outreach programs and services with particular focus on special student populations, including but not limited to veterans, English Language Learners, student parents, and incarcerated/re-entering students.
Monitor program data collection and reporting systems.
Assist in program leadership and ensure implementation and success of Community Connect signature programs: Peer Connectors, Welcome events, Dominoes and Dialogue.
Provide regular updates and support to the Director and to the Dean of Academic Support and College Pathway Programs to facilitate program evaluation processes and the production of internal and external evaluation reports.
In conjunction with the Connect Leadership team, oversee Community Connect social media; supervise relevant part-time social media staff.
Job Requirements
Master's degree in higher education, project management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience leading student-focused programming in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated success in working on staff teams.
Proven experience leading asset-based programming in higher education (community college setting preferred).
Demonstrated ability to work with a faculty, staff, and student populations.
Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated understanding of a Data Management System including Zogotech and Colleague.
Demonstrated understanding of high-impact asset-based, student-centered pedagogies and practices.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated experience in collecting, understanding, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data create systems change.
Preferred Qualifications
Our students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed. While not required, the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish, Chinese, or another language such as Arabic, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese, and French is preferred.
Experience working in a unionized faculty and staff environment.
Experience working with local communities/community-based organizations.
Experience managing and supervising staff/students.
Additional Information Salary: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00. Salary will commensurate with education and experience.
