Director of Education Program Services – Full-Time Direct Hire | Brooklyn, NY | $95,000–$105,000/year


Location: Brooklyn, NY

Job Type: Full-Time Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Pay: $95,000–$105,000 annually

Referral Bonus: $500 for qualified referrals (100+ hours worked)


Overview

A leading New York City organization supporting children with developmental disabilities is seeking a Director of Education Program Services for its Brooklyn location. This leadership role oversees all educational, clinical, and program operations to ensure high-quality services for students and families. The Director guides instructional strategy, supervises staff, monitors compliance, and drives program development across early childhood special education settings.


Key Responsibilities


Program & Operational Leadership

  • Direct daily operations across education, clinical, medical, clerical, and facility areas
  • Administer personnel processes including hiring, evaluations, and staff development
  • Approve classroom placements and curriculum design
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance, including DOE, DOH Article 47, and agency standards
  • Develop, implement, and monitor program budgets, projections, and required reports
  • Oversee the creation and revision of program policies and procedures
  • Manage supply purchasing and ensure classrooms have appropriate materials and equipment
  • Lead long-range planning, program development, and quality assurance initiatives


Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise all direct care and clinical staff, ensuring performance expectations are met
  • Conduct observations of classroom practices, environmental safety, and instructional quality
  • Provide in-service training, coaching, and ongoing professional development
  • Foster a collaborative team culture rooted in best practices for early childhood special education


Student & Family Support

  • Serve as liaison between families, school districts, and the program
  • Support IEP planning, progress monitoring, assessments, and transition processes
  • Ensure safe, developmentally appropriate environments, including adaptive equipment needs
  • Oversee documentation, reporting, and child-specific planning requirements


Community & Agency Engagement

  • Represent the program with outside agencies, districts, and community partners
  • Participate on agency-wide committees as a standing member
  • Handle public relations and community education for the program


Safety & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular assessments of program areas to maintain safe, healthy environments
  • Provide safety training to staff and support emergency preparedness procedures


Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education
  • At least five years of experience as a Special Education Teacher
  • At least four years of experience as a School Administrator
  • New York State Permanent Certification in Special Education
  • New York State Permanent Certification as a School Administrator and Supervisor
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Proficiency with computer systems, educational software, and email communication
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment commonly used by children with disabilities
