Director, Production
to oversee the full production lifecycle of our dynamic slate of Game Shows. This individual will serve as a strategic and operational leader, collaborating closely with creative executives, production teams, finance, technical vendors, and external partners to ensure seamless execution, budget adherence, and production excellence. The ideal candidate brings deep production experience across both U.S. and international territories (including Mexico), with strong leadership, budgeting, post-production, and infrastructure upgrade capabilities.

Production Oversight & Budget Management
Serve as the primary liaison with the SVP, Game Shows Development to align creative, operational, and staffing needs. Hire and oversee Executive in Charge of Production, Line Producers, and freelance production staff. Review, approve, and track series budgets, cost reports, and all financial deliverables in collaboration with Game Show corporate finance. Manage cost reporting across all territories (U.S. and Mexico), and coordinate with production accounting to track budget integrity, breakage, and network collections. Approve vendor hires, staffing, and production resources in accordance with SPT production guidelines, labor laws, and union/nonunion agreements. Source stages and office space, and secure/approve vendor bids and purchases requiring corporate sign-off. Create and manage payment schedules for talent, production funding, and partners.
Studio & Post-Production Infrastructure
Oversee and upgrade production infrastructure and studio readiness across all locations (U.S. and Mexico as needed) Partner with technical vendors, department heads, consultants, and SPT Tech Ops to troubleshoot, integrate, and implement studio and post-production systems. Track and manage infrastructure-related financials, purchases, leases, and tech expenditures. Negotiate with Sony Studio Operations on office space, sound stages, and post-production areas, assessing cost implications. Manage labor and personnel issues related to infrastructure changes, including union matters and crew relations. Develop and implement updated production and post workflows to support next-day streaming and new format execution.
Post-Production & Deliverables
Oversee post-production schedules, workflows, and in-house delivery for all Game Shows. Ensure timely and policy-compliant delivery of all series assets to Networks, Sony Post, and Archives. Manage all production data and media storage to ensure accuracy and security.
Game Show Development Support
Support development by sourcing/hiring specialized production staff and budgeting sizzle reels and development materials. Provide production and financial background on legacy IPs and previously produced series. Review and route development budgets through finance for approval. Maintain updated Game Show Network Producer Guidelines reflecting current best practices.
Contract, Legal & Insurance Oversight
Review and track all legal agreements related to development and production. Partner with Legal for drafting and renewing production agreements. Work with finance to set up and track insurance policies and certificates (internal and third-party productions).
Cross-Department Coordination & Communication
Act as point of contact for corporate and production vendors. Interface with internal departments including Creative Services, On-Air Promotion, Marketing, Ad Sales, and others for production needs. Maintain internal trackers and quarterly reports (e.g., marketing department expenses, series actuals).
Team Management & Compliance
Supervise Production Coordinator and Covid Compliance departments. Enforce Covid testing procedures and safety protocols on all productions.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in television production, preferably with game shows or competition formats. Proven leadership in managing large-scale productions across multiple territories. Strong background in budgeting, financial tracking, and cost reporting. Experience managing post-production and technical infrastructure upgrades. Familiarity with union rules and labor negotiations (e.g., BSI, IA). Ability to work cross-functionally with creative, legal, technical, and operations teams. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency in production software and financial tracking tools.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $117,866 to $153,225. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
