Locum NP/PA - Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist Wausau, Wisconsin OR-Only Role Vein Harvesting Low Call Back
Join a high-performing surgical team in Wausau, WI, where you'll work exclusively in the OR assisting with cardiothoracic procedures-no clinic or ICU coverage required. If you're a skilled NP or PA with vein harvesting experience, this ongoing locum opportunity offers a highly focused surgical environment with structured call and strong team coverage.
Position Highlights:
Start: ASAP - ongoing need
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Call/backup begins at 3:00 PM
Weekend call: Friday 3:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM (1:4 rotation)
Call Frequency: 1 call shift + 1 backup shift weekly
Low callback: typically 1-2x/month
20-minute response time
Clinical Details:
CVT surgery first assist - vein harvesting included
All OR work (no ICU, clinic, rounding, or admissions)
1-3 surgeries per day with 2 anesthesia blocks available
Minimum 3 first assists scheduled per day
Endoscopic Vein Harvesting System: Geinge Hemopro 2
Patients may be assigned or unassigned
Stroke-certified hospital, Level III Trauma Center
EMR: Epic
Team Environment:
4 cardiothoracic surgeons on-site
Strong surgical and anesthesia support
Efficient and collaborative OR setting
Candidate Requirements:
NP or PA with surgical first assist experience in CVT
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Active Wisconsin license or compact license accepted
ACLS and BLS certifications required
