Job Description GALT Aerospace is seeking a full-time, salaried Mechanical Engineer to perform Mechanical Systems Design related to Communication Mission Payload System Development and Installation Design onto the Platform.
At GALT Aerospace, Mechanical Engineers are responsible for collaborative, complex designs of structural, thermal management, and size, weight, and power (SWAP)-constrained systems for airborne, ground-based mobile, and shipborne military command, control, and communication systems. This individual would act as a responsible design engineer (RDE) on Mechanical hardware for multiple systems and programs. The candidate will be responsible for all Mechanical hardware development including:
Mechanical System design,
Structural and Thermal analysis,
Detailed Mechanical System Installation design onto SWaP constrained platforms,
Performing customer briefings/reviews, hardware test, site integration, and post-delivery support.
The candidate will work closely with other engineering functions in a team environment to meet schedule and technical performance requirements including:
Flight Engineering
Systems Engineering
Product Engineering
Software Engineering
Production
Procurement
Program Management
The ideal candidate has a broad range of experience with many of the following:
System and Platform level Mechanical design, development, test, and integration
Support Rapid Prototyping, I&T, and Demonstration of Complex Integrated Systems.
Work within a small cross-functional team to ensure creative solutions to novel problems
Ability and desire to guide/mentor junior engineers
Specify components and work directly with specialty suppliers and sub-contractors
Compose and present design reviews for internal and external customers
Develop TDP (Tech Data) and performance data packages
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited institution
3+ years of experience in a related Engineering Environment
Military and/or Aircraft related Mechanical System Design and I&T experience
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) personnel security clearance required
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education
Familiar with the mechanical design process: CAD, analysis, drawings
Solidworks
Thermal/ heat transfer analysis
Structural analysis
CFD analysis
Design for manufacturing
Experience taking the product from design to production and assembly
Strong analytical skills
Familiar with aircraft and aircraft structures
Familiarity with Military and Airborne systems.
Design and test experience in comm systems / RF technology
Airborne Wiring, Cabling, and routing with knowledge of EMI-EMC ramifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced studies / Degree in a STEM area
Active DOD Secret, TS/SCI, or SSBI clearance
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit or stand for 1 hour at a time
Must be able to operate a computer
Pay Scale At GALT Aerospace, base pay is one part of the total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $102,000-$145,000, and a specific candidate's base pay will depend on their skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
