Assistant Professor of Architectural and Engineering Technology

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking qualified individuals to fill a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Architectural and Engineering Technology (AET) position starting in the Fall 2026. The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) AET program and UAA’s Construction Management program are part of the Building Technologies Division housed within the University’s Community & Technical College. The Construction Management program is fully accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) and enjoys strong community and professional support.
To thrive in this role, the candidate will have experience in online course development and teaching experience. Demonstrated experience with community business outreach. Ability to teach department courses identified with content knowledge in building technology and/or architectural structures. These may include normative and innovative structural systems, construction systems, material performance, and building systems integration. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in contemporary technologies, computational design methods, artificial intelligence (AI), and/or interdisciplinary collaborations that advance the field of architectural structures and their role in building performance and design innovation. Ability to integrate sustainable building, Architectural & Engineering Technology principles into the curriculum. Familiarity with circumpolar construction conditions. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, peers in the profession, and community. A comprehensive knowledge of the construction process, procedures, and industry is required to teach the courses listed.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Design, or related field. Minimum four (4) years of experience in the architectural drafting/technology field or as a licensed/registered architect, or equivalent professional experience in a construction-related position. Experience with circumpolar construction conditions and techniques.
Minimum of two (2) semesters of teaching experience at the college level or equivalent.
Position Details This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, tenure-track position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
