Division Director of Primary Care Pediatrics – University of Virginia
The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics and Division of Primary Care Pediatrics invite applications for a Division Director of Primary Care Pediatrics. Academic pediatric generalists at the rank of Associate or Full Professor are encouraged to apply. The position may be tenure‑eligible depending on the candidate’s credentials.
Responsibilities
Lead the faculty in all clinical and academic mission areas, including clinical service, education of trainees at all levels, research program development, and administrative activities of all divisional programs.
Coordinate and enhance all clinical, academic and research activities of the Division.
Create and implement the vision and goals for the Division, aligning with the broader strategic plans for the Department of Pediatrics and UVA Health Children’s.
Oversee all divisional faculty, advance their careers by providing professional and personal development opportunities, oversee high‑quality innovative training, and support research activities for the division.
Model a culture of inquiry to ensure active engagement in quality improvement, scholarly excellence and innovation in all missions.
Create an environment of excellence and innovation in clinical practice that supports positive patient outcomes.
Participate in clinical service.
Qualifications
Academic pediatric generalist, Associate or Full Professor rank preferred.
Strong leadership skills and experience in academic medicine.
Active research program desirable but not required.
Commitment to community outreach and research to improve child care.

(AAHRPP) and can act as the IRB of record for multi‑site investigator‑initiated trials; the UVA IRB also accepts National Cancer Institute (NCI) Central Institutional Review Board (CIRB) protocols. The SOM is served by two clinical research offices, the Office for Clinical Research (OCR) in the Cancer Center and the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) in the SOM, as well as a clinical trials management system (CTMS, OnCore) and a robust trial start‑up program (CR Connect). There are two investigational pharmacies.
