Head Coach – Women’s Volleyball
The Head Coach provides leadership and organization for all phases of the women’s volleyball program at Roosevelt University in compliance with institutional, NCAA, and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLAIC) rules and regulations. The position is full‑time, exempt, and reports to the Vice President of Athletics and Student Success. It is located on the Chicago campus.
Responsibilities
Student‑Athlete Engagement and Academic Success
Oversee the academic progress of student‑athletes.
Assist students with barriers to retention and graduation.
Develop programming that builds character outside of athletics.
Competition and Practice Management
Develop and manage the calendar of competitions and training sessions.
Organize individual plans for each training/practice session and assess outcomes.
Lead the team during competitions.
Student‑Athlete Recruitment
Build relationships with high‑school, junior‑college, and club programs to identify prospective student‑athletes.
Travel to evaluate prospective athletes at events.
Facilitate campus visits and maintain ongoing dialogue to secure enrollment.
Program Management
Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
Ensure compliance with institutional purchasing and reimbursement guidelines.
Organize team travel to off‑campus competitions.
Order inventory and distribute necessary equipment and uniforms.
Ensure program compliance with national and conference policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
2–5 years of coaching, participation, or related experience.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
Judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining relationships.
Commitment to service excellence and embodiment of Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision.
Positive and professional demeanor.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior head coaching experience.
Recruiting experience at the college level.
Coaching experience at NCAA Division II or Division I level.
