What You Will Do
The Chemistry Waste Facility Operations (CWF‑WF) Division is seeking an Operator to join our dynamic team. CWF‑WF is responsible for the Transuranic Waste Facility (TWF) at Technical Area 63 (TA‑63) which provides storage and characterization of newly generated waste from multiple facilities, improving the Laboratory's ability to ultimately move waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in southeastern New Mexico. The selected candidate will report to the CWF‑WF Operations Manager, primarily providing Facility support to the Operation Center. The candidate will be a self‑starter, receiving initial direction and requirements from the CWF Operations Manager, and will work as part of a collaborative team. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and team‑building skills are expected.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, and operating configuration.
Ability to understand the Laboratory's facility, operational, and computing policies, practices, and procedures.
Basic computer program skills; ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of facility equipment and maintenance.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
Training / Certifications
On‑the‑job training will be provided.
Education / Experience
Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of LANL policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Mobile Work Package and/or Asset Suites.
Experience with lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Basic skill in investigating alternative solutions and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility equipment maintenance and operations.
Ability to obtain a "Q" Clearance.

Work Location
The work location for this position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posts throughout the Laboratory. The position commitment for this role is 2 years.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee suitability under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (applicable only to U.S. citizens). Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q – The position will be cleared to this level. Selected applicants will undergo a background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
Eligibility: Individual must be at least 18 years and U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances (see DOE Order 472.2).
New‑Employment Drug Test: Successful applicants must complete a new‑employment drug test; a positive test for marijuana will result in termination of employment.
