Project Manager – Transmission Projects

Our client is seeking an experienced
Project Manager
to lead and oversee all aspects of overhead transmission projects. This role is responsible for project performance, including profit and loss, schedule adherence, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery from concept through completion. The Project Manager will build and maintain strong client relationships, drive repeat business, support business development efforts, and provide strategic leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
This position offers the opportunity to oversee complex transmission initiatives, guide project execution, support team development, and contribute to long‑term growth within the Transmission & Distribution sector.
Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution
Manage all phases of transmission projects, including siting, permitting, estimating, engineering, right‑of‑way acquisition, project controls, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction oversight, and project closeout.
Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control overall project costs.
Lead internal financial management, including forecasting, accruals, budget tracking, risk mitigation, change management, staffing, and coordination with legal and compliance teams.
Implement project policies, procedures, and execution plans; establish project controls systems.
Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and comply with internal QA/QC standards.
Client Management & Business Development
Serve as the primary point of contact for client coordination, strategic planning, scope alignment, budgeting, schedule performance, subcontracting, and environmental considerations.
Build, strengthen, and expand client relationships with a focus on generating repeat business.
Support the pursuit of new opportunities through proposal development, presentations, RFP responses, and contract negotiations.
Assist in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies, including participation in trade shows and client‑focused events.
Team Leadership & Reporting
Direct and coordinate activities of multiple engineering and project disciplines across moderate to complex projects.
Assist with hiring, training, and mentoring Transmission team members.
Provide regular updates on project progress, cost performance, schedule metrics, procurement challenges, design issues, safety concerns, and areas requiring additional support.
Travel to client sites, project locations, or regional offices as required.
Additional Responsibilities
Support organizational growth initiatives for Transmission & Distribution engineering and construction services.
Help evaluate target markets, identify opportunities, and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
Minimum
7 years of relevant experience , including
3+ years managing engineering projects within the Transmission & Distribution industry .
A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
Professional Engineering (PE) license
preferred .
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
preferred .
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to apply broad technical concepts to diverse challenges.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated experience producing transmission design and construction documents.
Working knowledge of the
NESC
and related industry codes and standards.
Proven ability to manage proposals, negotiate contracts, direct engineering teams, manage budgets, maintain schedules, and coordinate client communication.
Ability to build and grow client relationships; strong business development aptitude.
Ability to interact effectively with clients, public agencies, industry partners, and internal teams.
Must be able to travel as needed.
Valid driver’s license required.
