MUEP Program Coordinator Senior (Arizona State University) Join Arizona State University’s flagship Master’s in Urban and Environmental Planning (MUEP) program as a Senior Program Coordinator. The MUEP program, accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board, serves aspiring planners through an immersive campus‑based curriculum and a newly expanded fully online track (oMUEP). In this role you will champion the program among students and the planning community, working closely with faculty, staff, and alumni to support student success and advance the program’s mission of improving public wellbeing through responsive planning.

Essential Duties

Provide critical advising and professional‑development support to MUEP and oMUEP students—including course‑selection guidance, internship networking, and career development.

Lead non‑trivial administrative support for the Associate Director of Planning and Assistant Director of Graduate Programs, exercising independent judgment and initiative.

Support program‑development efforts such as admissions, recruitment, accreditation, and program events (e.g., orientation, career development events, lecture series).

Build and maintain relationships with planning professionals and alumni to expand internship, capstone, and career opportunities for students and graduates.

Collaborate with the Associate Director of Planning and faculty to shape and implement the strategic plan for MUEP and oMUEP programs, contributing to monthly Planning Program meetings, data collection, surveys, analysis, and planning.

Attend graduate support staff meetings and represent the program/school on college, university, and professional committees.

Stay current on employment trends within planning sub‑fields.

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure continuity of department operations and address evolving needs.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in urban planning or a related field.

Professional experience in the planning field.

Certification (or candidate status) with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Proactive and creative thinking, identifying opportunities to improve program processes.

Experience building professional networks with alumni and practitioners.

Project management skills and teamwork experience.

Strong professional communication and writing skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and collaborative platforms for scheduling, document sharing, and spreadsheet management.

Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
