Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Shipbuilding Project Manager to lead and oversee large-scale vessel construction projects within a dynamic and fast‑paced shipyard environment. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to manage complex shipbuilding programs, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality ships on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
Lead the end‑to‑end execution of major shipbuilding projects, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Coordinate daily activities across engineering, planning, production, procurement, and supplier teams to maintain seamless project flow.
Drive project schedules, resource planning, critical‑path analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
Manage contracts, change orders, and subcontractor performance to meet project objectives.
Review engineering deliverables, production drawings, and system documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Monitor project progress using KPIs, earned value management, variance reports, and forecasting tools.
Ensure all work complies with ABS, USCG, Navy, and shipyard standards and regulations.
Facilitate progress meetings, prepare reports, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Support testing, trials, commissioning, and project turnover milestones to ensure successful project completion.
Maintain a safe work environment by supporting onsite activities, including field walkthroughs and adherence to PPE protocols.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience managing shipbuilding, marine engineering, or industrial construction projects.
Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams in a production environment.
Strong expertise in managing budgets, subcontractors, contracts, and project schedules.
Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent scheduling software.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
In‑depth understanding of shipyard workflows, marine systems, and planning processes.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of leading meetings at all organizational levels.
Comfortable working in an active shipyard environment, including climbing ladders, accessing vessels, and supporting onsite teams.
Relevant certifications and familiarity with industry standards are a plus.
