Job Summary The Safe Fleet Installation and service technician will be responsible for installing, setting up, commissioning and troubleshooting issues with Safe Fleet equipment or other PTLW mobile products.

Responsibilities

Travel to various customer sites in the US and Canada to complete the installation of various types of Safe Fleet equipment, including the main computer, ECM Y connector, main touchscreen monitor, cameras (various vehicle locations) and any external sensors required such as lift arm, dual position lift sensor, proximity sensors and RFID readers.

Set up and verify new units ensuring they come online, and perform final commissioning and testing so the waste truck is ‘Ready for Dispatch.’

Troubleshoot system and components, effect repairs and/or replacements due to components being defective or damaged, including re‑programming or re‑imaging existing equipment.

Customer and technician training.

Education and/or Experience

MECP Basic Installation Technician Certification or Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma from a College institution preferred.

A minimum of one‑year experience in a mobile installation environment (preference given to candidates experienced working with Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles).

A strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including multiplexed systems.

Strong troubleshooting skills (essential).

Computer and basic networking skills (essential).

Education or experience in installing and setting up access points.

Must have the ability to completely install, program and demonstrate a variety of mobile surveillance and sensor products in a variety of commercial vehicles within the passenger transportation, law enforcement and waste management markets.

Must be willing and able to travel throughout the United States and Canada regularly for extended periods up to 90% of the time.

Must be willing to travel and/or work non‑standard shifts, weekends and possibly holidays if a specific job requires it.

Must complete and deliver any necessary documentation.

Must possess the necessary skills required to safely use a variety of hand tools required for the job.
