Overview
We are seeking an Operations Technician I who will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operations of our data center facilities. This position is ideal for a novice IT professional eager to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic, high‑tech environment. Schedule
Monday – Thursday, 8:00 pm – 6:00 am
Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
Provide remote smart‑hands support for customer advanced issues and concerns.
Monitor and respond to alerts related to power, cooling, and network performance.
Perform regular facility security and operational walk‑throughs for issue identification, reporting, and documentation.
Follow methods of procedures (MOP) for equipment and cabling maintenance.
Escalate critical incidents to senior engineers or management when necessary.
Proactively manage ticket queue for timely request response and completion.
React to alarms promptly and, if needed, escort and supervise third‑party vendors.
Maintain accurate records of equipment changes, incidents, and maintenance activities.
Monitor security cameras.
Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent.
Adequate professional experience and knowledge to perform job responsibilities.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑moving environment with tight deadlines.
Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows‑based applications.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience in the data center industry.
Working Conditions
Data‑center operations environment.
Shift work: availability for on‑call duties and occasional shift work, including nights and weekends as required.
Physical requirements: able to work in controlled environments and handle physical tasks such as lifting hardware or navigating confined spaces.
Pay Transparency
TierPoint is committed to practices that promote pay equity and transparency. Pay Range: $19.91 – $29.87. The actual compensation may vary based on skill set, experience, location, and other relevant factors.
