Job Summary: As an Accounts Receivable Specialist in our Finance Department, you will be responsible for meeting monthly collection goals by following established procedures and assisting with patient accounts and reimbursement. The role requires strong knowledge of NJ Medicaid and Medicare billing, collaboration with clinical and executive teams, and problem-solving for payment issues. Additional duties include auditing accounts, generating reports for management, and ensuring departmental objectives are met on time.
What You Will Do:
Assist and maintain appropriate internal controls over accounts receivable
Assist with and monitor accounts sent for collection and reimbursements from insurance companies and other third-party payers
Review, monitor, and evaluate third party reimbursement compliance and research variances
Keep abreast of all reimbursement billing procedures of third party and private insurance payers and government regulations
Process insurance payments to client accounts in computerized system
Identify, track, and resolve payment discrepancies through claims adjustments.
Verify benefit entries to ensure accuracy
Submit appeal letters as needed
Contact clients regarding outstanding balances
Respond to client billing and statement inquiries
Make recommendations to management for write-offs
Use all Patient Accounting systems including Emdeon, MyEvolv, Navinet to research billing issues
Perform clerical functions; Xeroxing, filing
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's degree (B. S.); or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
2-3 yrs. experience working with all Medicare and all Medicaid plans; knowledge of NJMMIS and CMS required
2-3 yrs. experience working with all Private insurance plans
2-3 yrs. insurance / billing experience
