We are seeking a
Mechanical Department Supervisor
for TowerPinkster’s Grand Rapids office. This role will provide leadership to the mechanical engineering team through coaching, mentoring, workload management, quality oversight, and process improvement.
Position Responsibilities and Expectations

Clients
Participate in business development functions, including maintaining client relationships and networking.
Create and maintain long‑standing client relationships.
Participate in client interviews.
Collaborate with clients in planning and design, defining scope to meet client needs.
Projects
Ensure clear understanding of project scope, roles, expectations, and deadlines.
Serve as senior subject‑matter expert to resolve project challenges.
Lead and coordinate project efforts with other disciplines, clients, and construction partners.
Assist the manager with quality checks and project reviews.
Assist the manager with developing and implementing techniques for improving procedures and standards.
Define scope of work and determine budget targets.
Provide project management, design expertise, and contract administration for select projects.
Conduct field assessments, design analysis, and perform site visits.
Create reports and presentations for clients.
Act as Project Manager on mechanical‑driven projects.
Mentorship
Assist the manager and other supervisors in creating training and mentorship opportunities.
Create growth and development opportunities for educational learning.
Influence the careers of professionals on your team.
Provide shared experiences, knowledge, and lessons for continuous improvement.
Guide team members in growth and development.
Leadership
Continuously demonstrate initiative and encourage team members to take initiative.
Actively participate in the Leadership Team.
Plan and develop results‑oriented business strategies.
In partnership with the Manager and other Supervisors:
Establish appropriate staffing levels and workload assignments.
Project future staffing needs and participate in recruiting efforts.
Meet regularly to understand workload and project assignments.
Guide young professionals through the Licensure Process.
Develop and maintain connections with direct reports.
Conduct performance reviews and partner with management on merit increases.
Monitor quality control of documents and projects.
Establish goals and long‑term career plans for direct reports.
Participate in organizations and outside activities to promote TowerPinkster and recruit talent.
Perform all other duties as needed.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree (preferred).
Professional licensure required; additional certifications preferred.
15 years’ experience in the A/E industry (preferred).
10+ years’ experience leading project teams.
Experience with Revit and all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
In‑depth knowledge of A/E construction documents and construction industry (preferred).
Ability to lead and support a talented team.
Participation in professional organization memberships.
