About The Role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman offers an entry‑level Transportation Engineer position in our Milwaukee or Waterford office. This role focuses on design and construction engineering for transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. You will collaborate with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

What your day‑to‑day will look like, what you will learn on the job

Design roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other applicable design software.

Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.

Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients.

Create engineering plans and specifications using WisDOT standards.

Process Federal Aid projects for a variety of clients.

Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients.

Support project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

Education Requirement

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

Must‑haves

Relevant internship/co‑op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.

Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).

Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.

Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Work within a team‑first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.

Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.

Experience with Geopak.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
