The Sr. Manager Applied Science will lead a crossfunctional team of 30+ builders in pioneering GenAI experiences for +1.3MM Amazon Sponsored Product and Brand advertisers. The leader will invent and build the SPBAgent, a GenAI platform that will transform retailmedia advertising for SPB advertisers, from emerging brands to global brands selling on Amazon. SPBAgent will serve as an intelligent advisor integrated directly into Amazon Ad Console and Selling Partner portals (Seller Central and Vendor Central). Through conversational interfaces and deep reasoning, it will help advertisers discover growth opportunities, optimize campaign performance, and execute sophisticated strategies. The leader will drive this transformation from vision to reality, directly shaping the intersection of generative AI and advertising at unprecedented scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead a crossfunctional team of Applied Scientists, Engineers, and Product leaders.
  • Define and deliver the science and engineering roadmap for SPB Agent, translating business goals into agentic experiences and driving integration of the SPBAgent into advertising applications.
  • Hire and develop top talent, providing technical direction and career growth guidance to scientists and engineers within and across organizations.
  • Stay current on research advances, industry trends, and system architectures relevant to agentic AI for SPBs advertising business.

The Advertiser Guidance team sits at the heart of Sponsored Products and Brands, tackling advertising's most complex challenges: how do you guide 1.3+ million advertisersfrom firsttime sellers to global brandsto create and manage campaigns that drive real business growth?

Our advertisers span every industry, budget level, and sophisticationselling everything from handmade crafts to consumer electronics. They manage campaigns with vastly different goals: some prioritize brand awareness, others focus on conversion efficiency, and many need help understanding what's even possible. This diversity creates immense technical complexity, but also a transformative opportunity to drive impact at scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Experience in managing and growing a highperforming and diverse team of both applied scientists and engineers for at least 5 years
  • Experience in building largescale machine learning and AI solutions for at least 5 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Experience in building largescale machinelearning models and infra for online recommendation, ads ranking, personalization, or search, etc.
  • Experience developing and deploying Agentic AI solutions
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to all levels of the organization
  • Experience in Advertising
