Government and Public Sector – Technology Consulting - Digital Engineering – Microsoft Functional Lead From strategy to execution, the Government & Public Sector practice of Ernst & Young provides a full range of consulting and audit services to help our Federal, State, Local and Education clients implement new ideas to achieve their mission outcomes. The opportunity Our Government & Public Sector (GPS) Digital Engineering practice helps organizations solve complex problems through purpose‑led transformation. A diverse and talented global team creates innovative digital experiences that help our clients succeed and thrive. The practice blends public‑sector mission needs with private‑sector leading practices, bringing together professionals from Consulting, Assurance, Tax, and Strategy & Transactions to provide flexible, integrated support.

Your key responsibilities

Translating complex business requirements into detailed functional specifications

Configuring and implementing solutions that align with business needs

Participating in discovery meetings with clients and prospects to understand and document their business requirements

Proposing and designing solutions using the extensive Power Platform capabilities to solve the identified business requirements

Customizing Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform applications

Co‑working with developers and configuration resources to define and create specifications for any custom code or data migration requirements

Developing solutions to complex problems and recommending policy changes

Establishing procedures that affect your immediate work area and possibly the broader business function

Exercising judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Training end users

Applying analytical prowess and decision‑making based on a broad understanding of policies

Guiding and developing junior team members

In addition to your client responsibilities, you will also be expected to fulfil manager‑level responsibilities within the firm such as:

Establishing, maintaining and strengthening internal and external relationships

Creating innovative insights for clients, adapting methods and practices to fit operational teams and cultural needs, and contributing to thought leadership

Anticipating and identifying risks, and escalating any issues as appropriate

Developing people through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring; fostering a positive learning culture

Conducting performance reviews and contributing to performance feedback for staff

Skills and attributes for success

Strong leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience in developing solutions to problems

Prior consulting experience

To qualify for the role, you must have

Bachelor’s degree

Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance

8+ years of related experience

Proven track record of complex problem‑solving and relationship management

Strong understanding of agile delivery and development methodologies

Comfortable working in person as needed

Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Public Sector, work may be required at client, EY and/or contractor sites. We aim to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel 20 – 30% or more.

Ideally, you’ll also have

Microsoft Certifications and prior consulting experience (highly preferred)

Expertise in developing written and visual communication products

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to collaborate with clients and identify engagement follow‑on opportunities

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $142,600 to $261,500. (The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California – excluding Sacramento – is $171,200 to $297,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined by a wide variety of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.) Our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

Join us in our team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client‑serving roles to work together in person 40‑60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
