The painter uses an electro-static paint system, maintains worksite and equipment, and fills in anywhere in the painting or assembly process as needed.
Under general supervision, performs routine and preventive maintenance painting duties, and a full range of specialized painting projects including, painting large structures in severe corrosive environments; and operates various tools and equipment.
Apply surface coatings to completed parts using hand held spray gun following established paint shop practices. • Visually check parts before painting to ensure part prep and after painting for paint runs and light or missed spots. • Ensure the proper handling and disposal of waste materials as directed by safety specialist. • Clean and maintain paint gun and related parts. • Learn all aspects of the painting process and be able fill in for any position as directed by supervisor. • Operate paint equipment and machines, handle hazardous material, and manage workflow of parts. • Clean up work areas, equipment, supplies and materials; Perform a variety of routine and preventive maintenance. • Prior prep or painting experience in manufacturing environment, preferred. • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards. • Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it. • Ability to understand and practice shop painting methods and departmental procedures. • Uses close vision for paint inspection.
