Job Summary The Senior Software Developer is a member of the Enterprise Business Applications team, responsible for development and support of enterprise applications, with focus on finance, payroll, etc. Senior role includes mentoring and technical leadership.
Appointment Information
Budgeted salary: $109,920 - $130,000/year.
Benefits: Full benefits.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
Classification: Career appointment.
Job Duties 70% Enterprise Applications Development
Apply advanced development concepts to plan, design, develop, modify, debug, and deploy complex software.
Analyze existing software and devise logic and algorithms for new systems.
Perform data analysis, testing, and debugging with clients and management.
Design interface between systems and databases.
Implement technical security best practices.
Specify, develop and execute complex test plans, including performance, security, accessibility and integration testing.
Support operations of Ellucian Banner Finance and Workforce Time and Attendance systems.
Develop new and modify existing database packages, stored procedures, Pro‑C programs, JSP, shell scripts, and reports.
Maintain and update system documentation and code comments.
20% Enterprise Applications Support
Support operations of Ellucian Banner Finance and Workforce Time and Attendance systems.
Resolve incidents, draft and update technical documentation.
Evaluate and respond to error messages and alerts.
Assist App administration team with triage of incidents.
10% Other Duties
Engage in training and professional development.
Mentor peers and share knowledge.
Stay abreast of technologies and best practices.
Mentor developers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Advanced Oracle PL/SQL experience.
Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP or similar technologies.
Oracle pro‑c or C/C++ programming experience.
Unix/Linux shell scripting (bash) experience.
Expert knowledge of Git/version control.
Advanced knowledge of secure software development.
Advanced software specification, design, modification, implementation, and deployment skills.
Understanding of functional needs and system support.
Clear communication of technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Ability to train business users.
Team player, supports knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with MVC architecture and Java frameworks such as Morphis foundations.
Experience with modern API methodologies (REST).
Agile software development workflow experience.
Support of system upgrades and code deployment in higher education.
Understanding of Banner architecture, workflows, and integration points.
Experience with SaaS product implementation and integrations.
Knowledge of enterprise integration tools (Mulesoft, AWS Lambda).
Agile certification.
