Knowledge of technologies commonly encountered in MakerSpaces, such as 3D printers, CNC mills, hand tools, sewing machines, etc.
Skill in compiling and recording data.
Skills in problem solving with a high degree of flexibility in regards to problem solving, especially in the evenings (in the absence of most other staff).
Skills in interpersonal communication to communicate effectively with patrons, library and university security, and UPD /Emergency Response, as well as easily communicate with relevant Alkek One technology staff when troubleshooting and/or working together.
Ability to serve as point of contact for the building on nights/weekends.
Ability to use machines commonly found in wood shops, metal shops, or other fabrication shops.
Ability to troubleshoot tech issues with the help of a manual.
Preferred Qualifications Job Description Responsible for coordinating operations and providing technical guidance within the Creative Tech & Media Engagement department.
Job Duties
Serve as the main point of contact for Alkek One evenings and weekends, as well as coordinate operations in the MakerSpace evenings and weekends.
Perform MakerSpace duties providing technical assistance, giving safety training, assist patrons with materials purchases, troubleshoot equipment issues, help patrons prepare digital assets, and maintain user database.
Interact with patrons in person, by phone, by chat, or email regarding all aspects of Alkek One services.
Resolve problems that elevate beyond student employee capabilities.
Monitor security on the floor, including equipment security and the security of the technology spaces.
Assist with supervision of several student employees.
Check that Alkek One technology spaces are staffed by student workers on evenings and weekends and contact appropriate supervisors if spaces are not covered.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
