About the team + role

The

Trading

team’s mission is to democratize finance by removing barriers to investing in the stock market. We imagine a world where millions of customers use Robinhood to meet their financial goals—and we get there by delivering high-quality, customer-focused products and passing more value back to our users than anyone else!

As

Director of Engineering, Trading Products , you’ll be at the helm of our most critical business area. This includes Equities, Options and Margins. You will shape and scale the Trading engineering organization, help define long-term strategy, and partner cross-functionally across product, design, compliance, and operations to deliver on our bold mission.

This role is based in our

Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY

office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least

4 days

per week.

What you’ll do

Define and evolve the technical and organizational strategy for Robinhood’s Trading business

Build and lead high-performing engineering teams by hiring and developing exceptional managers and technical leads

Mentor engineers and managers through actionable feedback and career development

Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to build reliable and user-first financial products

Create and improve processes for project execution, career growth, and organizational scalability

What you bring

6+ years of experience as an engineering leader, including managing managers and large organizations (50+ engineers)

Demonstrated success scaling engineering organizations and launching business-critical systems

Strong technical foundation and willingness to engage with engineering architecture and systems-level decisions

Background in distributed systems and experience building full-stack teams and products

Proven ability to evaluate and grow leadership talent across a high-impact engineering org

Compensation and Benefits In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC)

$278,000 - $327,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$278,000 - $327,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$278,000 - $327,000 USD
