Remote role (Part‑time, ~30 hours/week, 6‑month contract with potential to extend)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a large hospital system, is seeking an experienced Microsoft Azure Architect to provide part‑time, remote advisory support to their software development team. In this role, you will leverage your deep expertise in Azure cloud architecture to translate conceptual ideas into scalable, secure solution designs and reference architectures. You will play a key role in guiding the team to fully utilize Azure’s advanced tools and capabilities, implement cloud foundations such as Azure Landing Zones and the Well‑Architected Framework, and advise on best practices for security, scalability, and cost optimization. This position also involves coaching developers, supporting early‑stage application design and modernization initiatives, participating in planning and design sessions, and providing regular updates to leadership. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of cloud architecture experience, strong knowledge of Azure PaaS, serverless computing, data services, networking, identity, and DevOps tooling, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. Prior consulting or principal architect experience is strongly preferred. Healthcare experience is not required. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Provide expert‑level Azure architectural guidance to software development teams. Translate conceptual ideas into scalable, secure Azure solution designs and reference architectures. Advise on the use of Azure‑native services including App Services, Functions, API Management, integration services, serverless components, and data platforms. Recommend and help implement Microsoft cloud foundations such as Azure Landing Zones, the Well‑Architected Framework, and the Cloud Adoption Framework. Support early‑stage application design, prototyping, and modernization initiatives. Review architectures and provide best practice recommendations around security, scalability, cost optimization, and DevOps. Coach developers on Azure patterns, platform capabilities, and emerging features. Participate in planning sessions, design reviews, and roadmap discussions; provide regular updates to the software development manager. WHAT YOU BRING
10+ years of experience
in cloud architecture with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure. Strong understanding
of Azure PaaS, serverless computing, data services, networking, identity (Azure AD/Entra), and DevOps tooling (Azure DevOps or GitHub). Experience implementing
or advising on Azure Landing Zones, the Well‑Architected Framework, and Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework. Ability to translate
business concepts into technical architectures and actionable plans. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to operate effectively in an advisory capacity. Prior consulting, advisory, or principal architect experience strongly preferred. Healthcare experience not required.
