Outpatient Pharmacist – Per Diem (Crosstown Pharmacy)
Under the supervision of the Outpatient Pharmacy Administrative Director and/or Pharmacy Manager, the pharmacist is responsible for the compounding, dispensing, and quality assurance of prescribed pharmaceuticals. Duties include checking all medication prior to dispensing, ensuring correct dosage and drug interactions, and providing patient counseling.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Prepare or supervise the preparation of medication
Verify all patient information before filling a prescription
Compound prescribed medications, package and label
Perform quality checks on prescriptions for correct dosage, drug interactions, etc.
Provide consultation to customers upon filling a prescription; dispense medical and surgical products as prescribed
Record prescriptions dispensed, including poisons, narcotics, and other restricted drugs
Perform order entry of prescriptions into pharmacy management systems (e.g., QS1)
Supervise pharmacy staff, including customer service representatives and pharmacy technicians in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
Provide training, orientation, and re‑assignment of staff as needed for optimal operations
Offer drug education and counseling to patients according to department policies and procedures
Provide in‑service education to pharmacy staff, students, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare practitioners as needed
Attend and participate in department staff development conferences or other related activities
Maintain professional and specialized competency through continued education (attendance of at least one regional or national meeting per year)
Perform other related tasks as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy (PharmD, M.S., or MBA preferred)
Licensure to practice pharmacy in Massachusetts by hire date
At least two to three years of related experience; QS1 experience preferred
Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy procedures, systems, and equipment
High level of analytical ability, organization, and personal management skills
Experience with information systems implementation and revision
Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills
Professional conduct and demeanor
Proficiency with standard software (MS Word, Excel, web browser, etc.)
Compensation $34.86 – $50.48 per hour, plus benefits and additional compensation opportunities.
