Assistant Professor - English Philosophy and Modern Languages
Montana State University Billings is seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of English Literature with a specialization in Global Literatures, Comparative Literature, or Transnational Literatures, preferably with a focus on Indigenous literature. The successful candidate will begin Fall 2026 and will primarily teach undergraduate courses in world literature and multicultural literature, with the possibility of teaching other writing and literature courses. The teaching load is 21 credits for the academic year; summer teaching opportunities are available but are not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in world literature and multicultural literature.
Develop additional courses in the candidate’s specialty area.
Advise students and participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
Contribute to ongoing assessment and curricular needs of the department.
Maintain an active research, presentation, and publication agenda.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Transnational Literatures, Comparative Literature, Post‑Colonial Literature, Global Literatures, Global Anglophone Literatures, or a related field.
Appropriate background in the required area(s) of specialization.
Demonstrated ability and interest in undergraduate teaching.
Experience and commitment to working with diverse student populations.
Ability and willingness to develop and teach sections/courses within multiple modalities.
Preferred Qualifications
Focus on Indigenous literature.
Academic background and teaching experience in composition writing.
Experience in teaching environmental literature or technical writing.
Experience with program assessment.
Willingness to grow the English program.
