Tunnel to Towers Foundation
Base pay range:
$150,000 - $170,000 per year.
The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.
The Vice President of Education Grants will work within the Operations/Finance Department and oversee the Foundation’s Education Grants Program, assisting children of T2T recipients with higher education tuition.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for administration and management of the Foundation’s Education Grants Program/Department.
Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Program as well as all processes for awarding and receiving the Foundation’s Education Grants for higher education.
Assist in development of standard operating procedures for the Program/Department.
Perform intake; review applications; collect, evaluate, and verify data and all necessary supporting documents (financial and higher education documentation); and determine the recipient’s grant award based on other financial assistance in conjunction with a thorough knowledge and adherence to Tunnel to Towers’ Program and policies.
Monitor the Program’s academic requirements and student compliance in order to retain the grant award.
Serve as a liaison with the recipients as well as with colleges/universities and financial institutions.
Oversee a growing team of support staff and train such staff in the Education Grants Award processes.
Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the grant awards to colleges/universities and corresponding reporting.
Serve as a resource and guide for applicants and Department staff.
Collaborate with various departments across the Foundation.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial aid/bursar offices or scholarship departments for higher education.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree Preferred.
Experience with applying and overseeing scholarship or student aid, and understanding of accounting.
Possess a keen attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize workload, and handle sensitive information.
Strong organizational skills and able to multi-task in a smart and timely fashion.
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and contribute to the positive working environment of the Foundation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite (or equivalent).
Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.
Working Conditions Special working conditions may include a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.
Location Required to work on site in Staten Island, NY.
