Postdoctoral Researcher – Circuit-Based Model Systems of Anhedonia
Location: New Haven, Connecticut, USA. Start Date: July 1 2026.
Overview The BioMed X Institute is establishing a new, fully funded research group focused on
Circuit-Based Model Systems of Anhedonia . The group will be sponsored by AbbVie.
Responsibilities
Identify and validate pathophysiological changes associated with anhedonia.
Develop high-construct‑validity in vitro, in vivo, and in silico models.
Discover new therapeutic targets for anhedonia.
Integrate patient‑derived data and/or real‑world data to support mechanistic findings.
Identify surrogate markers or biomarkers for anhedonia and/or treatment response.
Lead the development of microcircuits or neurotransmitter imbalance models that can be translated into therapeutic strategies.
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, leveraging core facilities at Yale University.
Qualifications
PhD (or equivalent) completed within the last three years in neuroscience or a related field.
Strong track record or deep interest in circuit‑based neurobiology, reward circuitry, or translational neuroscience.
Expertise in cutting‑edge technologies (e.g., optogenetics, chemogenetics, single‑cell sequencing, machine learning, etc.).
Experience in designing and executing research proposals.
Strong publication record and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
What We Offer
A fully funded position with an annual budget of $1.1 million covering salary, materials, services, travel, overhead, and base access to Yale core facilities.
Project term of 3‑5 years.
Continuous coaching by key opinion leaders from top academic institutions and industry.
Participation in a BioMed X boot camp to develop a compelling pitch presentation.
Flexible working environment within a multidisciplinary, international community.
