Associate Director of Development – Dallas, TX
The Associate Director of Development will be situated in Dallas, TX, and work closely with the development team to plan, implement, and coordinate effective multi‑year strategies and plans for Dallas‑area gift prospects. The role focuses on individual giving, with opportunities also in corporate and foundation giving. As a member of a high‑performing fundraising team of more than ten professionals, the Associate Director will support major and principal gifts, foundation and corporate contributions, loyal donor management, and estate planning. The Texas Chapter works with colleagues across the Great Plains Division, all 50 states, and 70+ countries to maximize overall giving to the Conservancy. Responsibilities
Build and manage a portfolio of 60‑120 qualified donors, including those capable of giving over $100,000. Conduct 75‑125 face‑to‑face visits each year and prepare contact reports after each visit; manage 225‑375 moves annually. Develop and execute prospect development, qualification, and direct ask strategies for both global and local priorities to meet funding needs. Engage donors in legacy giving, asset gifts, planned gifts, and trade lands; provide recognition opportunities to increase future giving. Collaborate with conservation staff at local, division, and global levels to align donor engagement with conservation goals. Manage project timelines, budgets, and accountability, solving problems as they arise. Utilize the Conservancy’s donor database and develop proposals as needed. Maintain compliance with Conservancy gift‑related policies, procedures, and ethical standards as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals. Travel primarily within the Dallas area for donor meetings, with occasional other travel within Texas and outside the state for trainings and overtime. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination. Experience building and maintaining long‑term relationships with fundraising constituents. Experience asking for and closing gifts of $25,000 or more, including planned gifts. Experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. Experience working with cross‑functional teams. Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices. Desired Qualifications
Experience in fundraising strategy development, focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors. Demonstrated experience cultivating a pipeline of new donors. Experience building donor‑specific strategies. Proficiency with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge). Salary Information
The starting pay range for this position is $70,000 – $100,000, applicable to candidates whose country of employment is the United States. The actual salary within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits
