Role is responsible for designing, planning, and executing large‑scale data analysis and algorithm development to identify gaps in the care continuum and to measure impact using real‑world data and evidence (RWD/E). This work highlights the value of utilizing real‑world data to inform and/or address strategic questions in the disease areas of interest to AbbVie. The role involves the application of real‑world evidence study design, statistical theories, analytical methods, and technical programming skills to analyze clinical, survey, claims, and electronic medical record databases. It supports the department as a technical subject‑matter expert on RWE analytics; candidates are expected to act as a point of contact for the MHI Enterprise (all therapeutic areas) on analytical needs, proactively mitigating, resolving, and triaging issues to reduce operational complexity. Candidates are expected to standardize coding conventions and processes to increase efficiency, break down complex data into easily understood language, and create data visualizations for less technical audiences. Candidates should also be creative in using RWD/E and advanced analytics approaches such as machine learning to propose solutions to complex business questions. The role requires both technical application and consultative collaboration. Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to be the analytics lead for the MHI Enterprise (all TAs) to mitigate, resolve, and triage analytical complexities supporting care gaps analytics needs for medical engagement. Present results of analysis and key takeaways for audiences with varying technical skill and level within the organization. Identify appropriate internal and external data resources and external expertise to execute strategies and research activities. Develop and execute analysis plans, and be responsible for study design. Work with Medical Engagement to understand key impact variables and use RWD to quantify and operationalize these variables. Ensure responsibility and accountability for meeting timelines in a complex matrix structure, requiring effective cross‑functional relationships and teamwork. Interact with Medical Engagement, Business Unit TAs, HEOR Strategy, and RWE CoE (Center of Expertise) regarding findings and evidence for strategic communication. Translate TA business needs into project concepts to develop analysis plans and corresponding analysis. Utilize good coding, development, and documentation practices to ensure robust creation and maintenance of care gap analytics projects. Qualifications
Master’s degree in Statistics or related discipline required (e.g., Health Economics and Outcome Research, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, etc.); PhD in statistics or a closely related discipline preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in analytics programming (SAS, SQL, R, Python) required, with experience in observational study analysis (claims, survey, clinical, and EMR analysis) required. Candidates with Python and machine learning experience are preferred. Ability to incorporate production code macros, execute programming assignments, solve issues independently, and present complex research and data clearly to stakeholders. Experience and/or training in the application of advanced scientific and analytical methods in real world evidence generation. Ability to urgent analyses with short turnaround times and collaborate with internal and external partners on joint projects. Professional training in a healthcare field, experience in analysis of large medical claims datasets, or prior experience in the UNIX/Hadoop environment preferred. Additional Information
The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees. This job is eligible to participate in our short‑term incentive programs. This job is eligible to participate in our long‑term incentive programs.
