Overview

Director, Richard Haass Center for Education at CFR. The CFR seeks a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader as the inaugural Director of the Richard Haass Center for Education (Haass Center). Established in June 2025, the Haass Center was created to honor Richard Haass’s 20 years as CFR’s president and his commitment to civic education and global affairs literacy. The Center will centralize and expand CFR’s educational work, creating resources for educators and learners in secondary and postsecondary classrooms nationwide and teaching global affairs through civil discourse and respectful dialogue. Today’s interdependent global economy and geopolitical landscape connect the United States’ interests to those of other countries. The inaugural Director will lead three verticals: (1) civic education, civil discourse, and global affairs literacy; (2) scale content production for educators and students and develop new distribution channels; (3) expand national outreach and engagement with educators and educational administrators. The Director will build on CFR Education’s foundational work and ensure the Haass Center’s materials, programming, operations, communications, and thought-leadership strategies work together to sustain and grow reach, impact, and visibility. Responsibilities

Provide leadership on civic education, civil discourse, and global affairs literacy; Scale content production for educators and students and nurture new distribution channels; Expand national outreach and engagement with educators and educational administrators; Ensure Haass Center materials, programming, operations, communications, and thought-leadership strategies are aligned and effective; Serve as an intellectual and administrative leader, liaising between the Haass Center and CFR peer departments; Promote a culture of inclusivity, teamwork, and respect; Lead and manage a center of excellence in global affairs literacy and education for student and educator populations. Seasoned educational leader with the ability to advance CFR’s educational mission and resources for educators and learners; Experience guiding multi-faceted programs, content production, and stakeholder engagement;
