Job Title: Merchandiser / Assistant to the Creative Director
Position Overview We are seeking a
Merchandiser / Assistant to the Creative Director
with strong experience in
newborn, infant, and toddler apparel and accessories
(including bath and bedding). This role is key in driving cohesive product stories, line architecture, and seasonal strategies. The ideal candidate is both
creative and analytical , able to balance trend inspiration with data-driven decision making. You will serve as the primary liaison between the Creative Director, Design, Technical Design (TD), Product Information, and cross-functional teams.
You will work in a small, fast-paced team environment, partnering closely with one additional Merchandiser to support seasonal planning, product development, and creative alignment.
Key Responsibilities Line Strategy & Planning
Partner with the Creative Director to develop seasonal line plans and product assortments for newborn, infant, and toddler categories.
Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, sales history, and consumer insights to inform product strategy and assortment decisions.
Build and manage line architecture, SKU plans, pricing strategy, and category performance goals.
Product Development Support
Collaborate closely with Design and Technical Design to brief and guide product direction, ensuring alignment with brand vision, quality standards, and pricing targets.
Liaise with Product Information and Sourcing teams to gather costing, evaluate pricing, and optimize product value.
Track development milestones, product changes, and approval timelines to maintain on-time delivery.
Creative & Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the point of contact for the Creative Team, ensuring alignment across design, packaging, marketing, and brand storytelling.
Support preparation and organization of creative reviews, line presentations, and milestone meetings.
Partner with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Planning) to deliver clear product stories, seasonal direction, and assortment rationale.
Analysis & Performance
Monitor product performance and present findings to inform future line planning.
Conduct assortment and pricing analysis to identify opportunities for growth and margin optimization.
Requirements – MUST HAVE
2–5+ years of merchandising experience within newborn, infant, toddler apparel and/or accessories (including bath/bedding).
Strong understanding of product development lifecycle in children’s categories.
Demonstrated ability to line plan, build assortments, analyze data, and guide design direction.
Creative thinker with strong aesthetic sensibility and trend awareness.
Highly analytical and organized; comfortable interpreting data and building strategic recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and present clearly.
Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote, and PLM or merchandising systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in wholesale merchandising; open to candidates with retail merchandising backgrounds.
Experience working in a small or entrepreneurial environment where you wear multiple hats.
Knowledge of baby safety standards, fabrications, and product testing is a plus.
Salary $85,000-$95,000
