Position Summary The Draft / Designer Project Engineer will create and prepare drawings under the direction of Field Engineers and Project Managers for marine design projects. The role supports the success of products that provide insight into the ocean environment and contributes to the company’s continued success while upholding Kongsberg’s values of Determination, Innovation, Collaboration, and Reliability.
Role And Responsibilities
Prepare engineering drawings, sketches, Bill of Materials, and other information for a wide range of customer projects within Ocean Technologies.
Consolidate inputs from a variety of sources to create efficient drawings with input from other stakeholders on the team.
Analyze design requirements and present possible solutions for integration with vessels.
Document controller responsibilities – Teamcenter.
Work with third‑party suppliers to meet contract requirements.
Provide pre‑sales support including feasibility studies and defining scope of work.
Produce contract deliverables for new vessel builds and refurbishments.
Drive continual process improvement.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
1–5+ years of marine design experience.
Fluent in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Strong working knowledge of drafting standards with high comfort working with 2D layouts, wiring schematics, and diagrams.
Preferred Skills
Ability to work independently and with a team; excellent communication skills.
Good customer support and people skills.
Structured mindset and strong attention to detail.
Experience with class (primarily ABS) and USCG submittals.
Positive attitude and ability to work well with other departments, product centers, and regional offices.
Analytical with affinity for complex problem solving and time‑management.
Committed and reliable.
Experience with naval architecture best practices, hull forms and CFD.
Knowledge in hydroacoustics is a benefit.
Pay Range & Location Pay Range: $95,000 – $105,000 annually (DOE).
Work Location: Lynnwood, WA – Hybrid work schedule (up to 2 days a week remote).
