Functional Safety Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Functional Safety Engineer to join their Advanced Hardware Engineering team. This role focuses on supporting system and hardware functional safety through detailed FMEA/FMDA, diagnostics development, and verification & validation of advanced compute and sensor hardware.
Responsibilities
Perform system, sub-system, and board-level FMEA, FMEDA, and diagnostic analysis.
Review vendor documentation to identify and assess diagnostic capabilities.
Collaborate with systems, EE, firmware, and V&V teams to enable and verify diagnostics.
Develop and review test plans, including fault injection testing per ISO 26262:2018.
Analyze vendor safety manuals for complex SoCs and microprocessors.
Define new requirements to improve hardware diagnostic coverage.
Support test and infrastructure teams to enhance verification effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Robotics Engineering
6+ years of experience in board-level FMEDA and SoC safety analysis
Working knowledge of ISO 26262 or similar safety standards
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
ISO 26262 Certification (CFSE/CFSP)
Familiarity with SN29500, IEC 61508, FIDES, FMD
Hardware validation and board bring-up experience
