Vice President, Events & Operations

The VP of Events and Operations will be responsible for working with all WSR departments in creating and managing events for clients, spectators and drivers. VP will coordinate their team to produce first class customer service to all entities involved to ensure a first class experience while representing Willow Springs Raceway and Speedway Motorsports Inc.
The VP Events and Operations will be based at WSR and will report directly to the General Manager while supporting all WSR departments. This position will also occasionally support other events across SMI’s properties when needed.
They will be expected to have a GLOBE mentality. GLOBE stands for Generously Lending Our Best Efforts. This is done by holding themselves and their teammates accountable for taking our best practices “the last mile” – optimizing them for maximum value to all stakeholders while sharing insights on how to improve our company.
Key Responsibilities
Effectively manage budget expenses relative to each event.
With VP Finance and General Manager, work to complete capital expenditure request.
Manage events team and sub that consist of Sr. Manager of Guest Services, Sr. Manager of Events, and Director of Emergency Services.
Property / Track Rental Events.
Manage Events Calendar.
Establish strong working relationship with Sales, Security, and Facility teams.
Work with WSR sales team to understand and accomplish client’s event goals.
Work with client fulfillment team to establish staff roles per event.
Understand and track COI’s that will need to be provided prior to event start.
Work with facilities department to make sure they understand client goals.
Ability to understand logistical requirements when managing several events simultaneously.
Skills and Specifications
Leader with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues throughout the company.
Self-motivator, confident, energetic and creative.
Effective verbal and written communicator.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
Ability to work nights, weekends and support occasional Speedway Motorsports race weekends as needed outside of WSR.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Leadership, project management and analytical skills.
Education and Qualifications
Minimum bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of five to seven years of event management experience.
Experience leading teams.
Compensation
$150k(+) annual salary, payable at a bi-weekly rate
Bonus eligible, annual, discretionary
Cell phone reimbursement payable at $56.77 biweekly
