Assistant Project Manager (Design-Build Construction)
Base pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr
A design‑build general contractor in Chicago seeks a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our team.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating construction projects from start to finish. You will work closely with senior project managers and field staff to ensure that all project activities align with quality, safety, and budgetary requirements. The ideal candidate has a passion for construction, strong organizational skills, and a drive to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with day‑to‑day project management tasks
Coordinate project documentation and reports
Monitor project schedules and budgets
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
Support communication between contractors, subcontractors, and clients
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred)
1–3 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably as a project assistant or coordinator
Strong knowledge of construction processes, documentation, and terminology
Familiarity with project‑management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project) and the MS Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Proactive, with the ability to identify problems and suggest solutions
A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
Knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations is a plus
