Associate Aquatic Director
We are growing and are seeking an Associate Aquatic Director at the Semones Family YMCA, a division of YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. The role supports our mission to help children and adults gain confidence and skills in and around the water. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this position will coordinate, supervise operations, maintain certification records, schedule and train staff, and ensure pool safety and proper maintenance.
Responsibilities
Supervise assigned aquatic programs
Supervise lifeguards and swim instructors
Develop positive relationships with participants, provide motivational support and guidance
Assist with the development, coordination, promotion and evaluation of aquatic programs and activities
Recruit and hire employees and volunteers
Develop, manage and control budget
Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
Maintain accurate records of staff certifications and training compliance
Monitor daily pool operations; adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
Conduct lifeguard, swim instructor, first aid and CPR trainings
Develop and maintain relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs
Serve as a member of YMCA management and support the overall objectives of the YMCA
Assume duties and responsibilities of the Aquatics Director when absent
Serve as on‑duty supervisor on rotating schedule
Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent education or experience
One to three years of experience teaching and coordinating swim lessons and a thorough understanding of customer service and its relationship to membership development
Lifeguard certified, YSLI certified, First Aid/CPR and Lifeguard Instructor certified; YMCA certifications preferred; any missing certifications must be completed within the first 30 days or first available course
Certified Pool Operator certification or completion within first 60 days or first available training
Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with a diversity of people and levels of personnel
