The City of Conway is accepting applications for the position of Director of Fleet Maintenance. This position performs difficult skilled and technical work overseeing the entire life cycle of the municipality’s vehicle and equipment fleet. This includes acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, disposal, inventory of parts/tooling, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, budgeting, and continuous improvement of fleet operations. Ensures that municipal vehicles and equipment are safe, efficient, cost-effective and reliable to support all city departments. Oversees repair and maintenance of all city equipment to include, but not limited to: police vehicles, fire trucks and vehicles, solid waste trucks, service trucks, administrative vehicles, dump trucks, back hoes, track hoes, lawn mowers, weed eaters, chain saws and water pumps. Oversees welding fabrication of equipment and special projects in the city. Schedules repairs and services weekly, assists mechanics with trouble shooting of City vehicles and equipment. Assists other departments on specifications of new equipment and vehicles, gathers information, prices and justification for budget and performs other related duties as assigned. This position may be required to work after hours, weekends, nights and holidays if needed. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Deputy City Administrator and City Administrator.
Minimum Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or associate’s degree in automotive technology/engineering, fleet management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) certification preferred.
Entry level pay for this position is $79,936.
